Janelle Maddox-Regis is the Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine IRB Reliance Program. She earned her Master in Health Science from Towson University and has worked for the JHMIRB in several capacities for 13 years. Mrs. Maddox-Regis is currently responsible for designing, managing and implementing the reliance process and relationships between the JHM HRPP and outside/external IRBs, which covers Johns Hopkins serving as both a relying IRB and the single IRB. Mrs. Maddox-Regis serves as the primary liaison between JHMIRB, Principal Investigators (PIs), clinical study sites, individual study teams and external organizations and IRBs regarding IRB reliance issues.
In her previous position as Associate Manager of Education and System Development, Mrs. Maddox-Regis served as principal quality assurance (QA) tester, working directly with a local IT development team to manage significant system upgrades and quarterly updates to the JHM electronic IRB submission system. Mrs. Maddox-Regis’ experience with electronic IRB system development and working alongside local IT professionals as well as the software developers [Huron] enabled her to dedicate a significant amount of time to overseeing the development and testing of a new electronic system, which supports JHMIRB’s role as a single IRB within the Trial Innovation Network [TIN].
