David H. Strauss, M.D. is a special lecturer at Columbia University, and serves as senior advisor to the Multi-Regional Clinical Trials Center Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard where he co-leads an initiative to promote diversity in clinical research. At Columbia, Dr. Strauss directs the ethics unit of a NIMH funded center grant “optimizing treatment for persons with schizophrenia across the lifespan.” He is a member of Takeda Pharmaceuticals Ethics Advisory Council. Dr. Strauss consults and lectures widely on matters of research and professional ethics.
At Columbia, Dr. Strauss chaired the IRB of the NYS Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University Department of Psychiatry, and served as VIce Chair for reseach administration, ethics, and policy. He chaired the University's standing committee on the conduct of research,
Dr. Strauss is former member of the PRIM&R board and chair of its public policy committee and co-chair of PRIM&Rs AER conference . Dr. currently serves on a SACHRP’s subpart A subcommittee, is a former member of SACHRP and co-chair of its subcommittee to develop recommendations on research with participants with decisional impairment.
Dr. Strauss practices general adult psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in New York City and Western Massachusetts.
