Cansu Canca, PhD, is a philosopher and the Founder and Director of AI Ethics Lab, where she leads teams of computer scientists, philosophers, and legal scholars to provide ethics analysis and guidance to researchers and practitioners. She also serves as an ethics expert in various ethics, advisory, and editorial boards. Dr. Canca holds a PhD in philosophy specializing in applied ethics. Her areas of work are ethics of technology and population level bioethics. Prior to the AI Ethics Lab, Dr. Canca was a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Medicine, and a researcher at the Harvard Law School, Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School, National University of Singapore, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, and the World Health Organization. Dr. Canca's recent topics of work include integrating ethics into AI research and development, ethical instruments for AI in human subjects researc, and operationalizing AI ethics principles.
