Introduction to the IRB: Ethics and Regulation

This workshop will offer an introduction to the ethical and regulatory fundamentals of IRB review for new IRB members, early career IRB administrators, and investigators. The program will include an overview of practical applications of the core ethical principles to IRB work and an orientation to the regulations and available resources. This workshop will allow those new to the field to build a foundation in the effective review of human subjects research.

Learning Objectives:

Outline the federal regulatory framework governing IRBs
Describe basic requirements for IRB review of human subjects research
Illustrate the ethical framework that undergirds human subjects protections
